Miami Beach – Two people sunbathing on Miami Beach Sunday afternoon were struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by an employee of beach vendor Boucher Brothers.

The accident occurred at around 4:13 p.m. according to the vendor and city officials. Police said the driver of the truck, Jorge Monje, was in the process of collecting chairs and packing up beach cabanas when he struck the beach-goers as they were laying on the sand at Seventh Street. The victims, Orlando Jimenez, 37, and Denise Moure, 28, both Miami Beach residents, were taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center where they were recuperating Monday. The nature of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The driver was cited for careless driving. The owner of the beach vending company, Perry Boucher, stated that he was very concerned about the victims. He added that he is cooperating with police and plans to launch his own investigation into what happened.
